Quarters: Prefabricated Housing

In collaboration with Anna Gukov, Lydia Cambron & Emilie Madill.

Following nearly a semester of intense research in materials, compact housing and the homelessness epidemic in Vancouver, a full-scale, timber-framed unit was built. The final design incorporated a loft bed, a readily available 5-gallon bucket wash basin, a City of Vancouver rain water barrel and modular furniture, which could be easily configured to create a second sleeping space. In one semester, we moved from drawings to 1:12 scale models to full-scale cardboard mock-ups to a complete prototype.

Exhibited at FPInnovations - Forintek, Vancouver & on Granville Island, where I was also responsible for the design of all exhibition signage.

Quarters currently lives on Bowen Island, British Columbia with three other units.

Interim exhibition at Forintek.
